At times, we can forget the simplicity of who we are and what we can be like in “the world”.
One way to see “the world” is as a dark nasty place to live in, surrounded by Satanic influences beyond our control that irritate and anger us and the only way out is Christ’s return.
However, I think we have another option and that is, that “the world” is the environment God has lovingly placed us in, to bring light and deliverance and hope to those who cry out for it. I am sure God knows exactly what He is doing, and He hasn’t condemned us to live in “the world” as wretched tormented souls. I think God has a totally different perspective.
Recently I read a definition of wisdom that said, “wisdom is seeing things from God’s perspective”. I propose that as we go to Him, with humble hearts and minds, asking and desiring His wisdom, He will provide us with an amazing vision to acquire a new and fresh perspective of who we are and where we are and what we have to offer “the world”.
Jesus in his earthly ministry was flawlessly adept in his walk as God’s only begotten son, and as a result he showed his Father’s heart in loving others. Upon seeing Jesus eating with tax collectors and others, (Luke 15), the religious leaders were in shock. They were so perplexed seeing this “man of God” associating with those who were less spiritual, that it prompted Jesus to share what are some of the most poignant parables recorded in the gospels.
Herein lies my point, are these folks not the ones that we seek to find, the ones who are in despair and that need God’s help and deliverance? Who admit they have a need for help? Did Jesus turn his nose either up or down at these people? His heart, which was God’s heart, embodied empathetic care and acceptance to a degree that “the world” had never seen before.
Were these not the lost who were seeking a home they didn’t even know existed yet? Were they like that one lost coin the bride searched and searched for? That day for many of those present there took on new meaning with a fresh perspective of rest and refreshment. Hungry souls were being fed that day and the people responded remarkably.
I am convinced that Jesus set the ultimate example of what was a priority in God’s heart (i.e.) declaring who his Father was and is, reaching the lost, healing the brokenhearted, recovering of sight to the blind and bringing the knowledge of the two spiritual kingdoms by exposing the devil openly, amongst many, many other things. His desire to help others was manifested in his life by acquiring God’s wisdom in helping others to learn and connect to his kind and compassionate and accepting Father.
Wow, what a difference that one day made. If one responded and turned to the Father, Jesus’ day “in the world” was totally worth it.
Got an extra moment today? Do you desire to help people? I know of one thing that we all can do very easily; the table has already been prepared, “in the world”.
